Fusako Hoyrup

Fusako “Seiga”Hoyrup, founder and president of Wafu School of Ikebana, California Chapter has devoted over 50 years to the study and teaching of ikebana. Ms. Hoyrup has received many awards and honors in recognition of her Ikebana work.
In January 2010 she was entered into the Bunka Hall of Fame, to honor those who have excelled and contributed to the culture of Japan as practiced here in America and bettered relationships in our community by enlightening all to the culture of Japan as practiced here in America.
Wafu School philosophy emphasizes the natural beauty of plant materials, that is, it respects the characteristic beauty of flowers and plants in their natural state, season by season.  Wafukai arrangers strive for exquisite harmony between the flowers, the container, and the environment in which the arrangement is displayed.  A Wafu-style arrangement embodies the elegance, creativity and mysticism found in nature.
